  2. So true! I spent 2.5 Months in the Philippines. Went to the North to Ilocos and south to Bicol! It was the best!! Loved all of it!! Will go back next year! Love to explore the Philippines!!

  10. Little off topic here Henry, but why don’t you do a video on how to
    buy a vehicle–like a scooter, and all the things you ask for, so you
    don’t get screwed. I know when you bought yours, you had a real big
    problem. I think you didn’t get the registration or something?? So if
    you could–I’d like to see a video on a step by step process on how
    to buy a vehicle–especially privately, and all the things you should ask
    for, so you know you won’t have any problems-thanks-Grant                                           (also include dealing with a dealership–is it safer ?? or same thing)

  14. Right on Henry. Perfectly said! I would add that the reason you want to stay active is to stay healthy as long as possible. The whole idea is NOT to nut-up and have to return home due to serious medical reasons.

    Yeah, the locals think I’m insane as I go for my daily walk in the heat. But sweating and getting your heartrate up keeps you from blowing up like a balloon. Controlling your weight is the basis for good health, of course. So I wave and smile at the locals as I walk by.

  18. People are so weird and funny.  After a while It might just be best just say hi and as my wife would say to “entertain” them. I think you have the biggest conspiracy theory of traveling through the Philippines to  be a self proclaimed wandering gypsy…!!!  Keep on keeping on! Have fun and be safe!     1. That’s good…:) smiling and agreeing.  There are too many people that are upto no good. I like the saying, :an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.  Enjoy the weather. Here its been CRAZY. Cold, foggy, rainy one day then warm, sunny and humid the next..

    2. I try to give very brief answers that are honest.. but vague.  It becomes something of a game.  🙂  Often when they ask, “Where do you live?”, I will point and say, “Over there.. way over there.”

    I know you are not a information office but maybe someone can tell me.I  like to know how get a sailboat yacht registration because I dream to build myself a sailboat in the Philippine  and get the  flag and number registration.. is intresting  as the car or motorbike registration I love fishing and go around by boat. maybe someone know how to do it registration costs ,,,,  thanks bye…

    I was wondering what you found was the best way to get money from the USA.

    Do you use an ATM? If so..are the fees very high?
    Western Union?
    Xoom?

    When i send money to the philippines, i usually use Xoom.  It is cheaper than WU.  I was wondering when I move there in January, what will be the most cost-effective way will be to send money to myself.

    1. i tried that a few years ago while in the philippines, and Xoom cancelled my account immediately and refused to tell me why did they did so.   It took 2 months of arguing with them to get my account reinstated.  I do send money to a girlfriend via Xoom, but I am worried the same thing will happen again if I try to send money to myself again.  

      Just a quick correction, for 4.99 you can send $3000 “in pesos” to yourself…which Xoom takes a 2% exchange rate benefit on when they convert it.

  23. zensun, street food is great and a lot more hygenic than in some resteraunts in the UK, they wear plastic bags on their hands new each customer/serving, but like most places look at conditions b4 u buy lol

  25. Why Philippines? not Malaysia, , Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore or Taiwan, which are a ball throw from each other? Just curious to know.   I know Philippines is cheap , girls, weather,  more bang for your buck and also spanish influence.   Are those your reasons?

    1. Cambodia and Thailand are actually cheaper than the PH, but I originally came here because I met a Filipina in California and 2 years later moved out here to be closer to her.  (we’re still friends but, it didn’t work out).  However the other obstacle (for me) was that the other countries did not have English prevalent in society, the way the PH does.  Infrastructure is better in other countries, so it’s all a trade-off on what is most important to you.

  27. That´s also my own way. Exploring so much I can, bouncing around, some months there, some months here, open mindend.
    So simply: Collecting moments, not collecting things.
    A trip to Laos, Vietnam and Kambodia would be an Idea (for Visa running), and also Palawan, even Filipinos call it their “Last Paradise”.

  30. Totally agree. . Shake it up, so much to explore. To change your view causes you to keep the mind active instead of the same 4 walls or whatever have you. Be an astronaut or be an astronomer? Keep safe ~P
