  1. Some of your narration is common sense and worth heeding. But beyond that, much of it is far too general to be specifically useful, in addition to being hyperbolic and needlessly alarmist. Makes for a dramatic title for lots of clicks however.

    1. My intention was to contradict the advice to buy that most international retirement media is pushing online. I think they are giving bad advice for personal gain. I am not saying that plenty of people are not doing well buying offshore. I am just saying it is riskier than it is being presented by others. Thanks for commenting. Dan

    2. This channel focuses on giving information to all types of travelers. Your experience sounds higher than most, so the info simply does not apply to your level of understanding. Surely, the intention was not click bait.

  2. Your comments make sense, but I too find your revealing bikini shots photos of your female friend in bad taste and somewhat degrading, you don’t need to stoop to that level for views and subs. Also, you are pushing your cheap living pretty heavily, lighten up a bit.

    1. Lighten up on cheap living? That is the objective of the channel! Also, she is a professional model, he is a professional photographer. Lighten up a bit on the pearl-clutching and white-knighting.

  3. If you have a nice Rental Place where you are happy you could still improve the Building with some additional Construction add on’s like some good looking Coupola’s at the upper part from your terrace. Everyone shouls enjoy some Shade be protective to your skin OK

  4. Ignore negative comments. I’m in real estate business you make great points. Better to lease than buy overseas. Not only property even companions, lol.

  5. Every single reason stated not to buy RealEstate in developing nations, is true and can not be refuted ,We farangs always get into trouble when we forget we will Always be the foreigner whose only value is an opportunity to be got !

  6. You are a wise man, you don’t buy property overseas, and you didn’t marry an oriental woman. So explain why it is not a good idea to marry, after showing us all these hot photos of Qiang Hui!

    1. There is nothing wrong with marriage so long as you talk it through in advance, manage expectations, get advice about local laws, and put it in writing.

  7. This is great advice! Ran into a fellow traveler in the Caribbean in 2015. She said she and her husband just arrived from Thailand after a coup. According to her, foreign properties were nationalized and they felt they had to bail within 48 hours and left almost everything.

  8. My wife is going to buy a house in Thailand close to her family. Pretty sure we are going to last a lifetime but if we don’t it is hers. Nothing to lose for me.

    1. @Vincent Baytion marriage is about trust. When my wife wants to buy a house with her money for us to live in, I think it is just another beautiful thing about my wife.

  9. it depends on the location. In the Philippines, real estate prices are stable in cities such as Manila and Cebu. Foreigners are allowed to purchase condominiums (not land). In the provinces where infrastructure is lacking, I suggest to lease, not buy.

  10. YES LIVE WITH A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN WITH A BEAUTIFUL HOME
AND MARRY THEM. IF THEY TAKE YOUR HOME PUT A FINANCIAL LEAN AGAINST THE PROPERTY YOU PAID FOR IT.
IN THE PHILIPPINE LAW WITH A LEAN THEY HAVE TO EITHER SELL THE PROPERTY OR GIVE YOU THE CASH.
THIS WAY THE WOMAN CANNOT WALK OF WITH THE HOUSE YOU PAID FOR!!!

  11. These are potential risks which do not apply to all countries. I think e.g Malaysia is a stable and secure environment for investing in real estate.

    1. There are exceptions but wait until you have lived there at least 2 years and know you will stay and then get a goood lawyer to traverse the legal landscape. Stay awa from arm chair quarter backs.

  12. Totally crushing on your crush. Love them skinny girls. It is cra, cra, crazy for a Yank, Brit or Ozzie to buy property outside of their own country.

  13. Very objective analyse. I will advice foreigners to take in account this video to understand the unknown of expatriationโ€™s risks. Do not let your local wife tell you what to do. She always gonna minimize the risk in her advantages.

  14. Good morning my friend, thanks for your useful and precise advises, I think this is the best advice about real estate matters of foreigners overseas, it gives you flexibility and freedom of movement, you can rent wherever you want and the time you decide….congratulations, very good videos and good quality…๐Ÿ‘

  15. Hey Dan, good points. I have to admit I haven’t always felt real comfortable with buying our condo in San Fernando Pampanga, but if nothing goes south on us it should be a great place to spend our winters for quite a few years to come, and especially once it’s paid off completely.

  16. I have a friend who has paid loads of money to build a house in Chiang Mai. He can’t own anything in Thailand, everything is owned by his wife. He really believe that everything is fine. He retires in about three years.
Thailand has changed a lot in the last 20 years like the rest of the world. On top we are facing a huge depression after this ‘virus’ crap. I can’t even guess how much a flight ticket is going to cost, once some airlines start flying again.
The world as we knew it, will not come back anytime soon.

  17. Very salient points l keep a large percentage of my portfolio on a hardware wallet easy to take globally and virtually undetected also have enough cash for 3 months min

  18. Nationalism is social disease? I don’t know about you but here in Eastern Europe it was our nationalism that helped us survive the Soviet communist occupation and the Socialist oppression that followed. Also the Islamic Ottoman occupation and the German Nazi occupation before all that. Merge Socialism with any ideology including nationalism and it’s going to be a disaster. Gandhi was a Nationalist. Was he hateful? Let that sink in. Think of Nationalism as an extended family. Just because there are underhanded politicians playing the blaming game including socialist and National Socialist and Islamist who exploits nationalism in some part of the world doesn’t make it wrong. We are proud nationalist here in Eastern Europe and we are the proof that we were able stand up and defeat evil because of it. Grow up!

    1. โ€‹@Vagabond Awake A pure Nationalist like Gandhi believed in helping his people not oppressing others. True nationalism is not about oppression it’s about help. Using it as a tool to abuse should put the blame on the culprits not on the ideology. Anyone who generalizes nationalism and places blame on it is just as ignorant or brainwashed as the culprits. I understand you thou, your way of thinking is now the mainstream in Western Europe vs Eastern Europe. West where Leftist and their ideologies are placing the blame on Nationalism to divert form the real culprits, the Left. They want to cover up history and themselves after the spectacular failure of Socialism both Communism and Nazism They are controlling the narrative now and it seems it works. You are one example of that thinking.

    2. Gandhi and your other examples did not involve a majority using nationalism to oppress minorities did they? They were using nationalism to push out foreign colonialism. Also true in E. Europe.

  19. Your 100% correct in most cases do not buy real estate in a foreign country. I live in the philippines and have bought and sold a few houses and a piece of property. I know Have a house here that i’ve lived in for 12 years. property in a foreign country can’t be sold quick like in your home country.

    1. Click the link in the notes below the Panglao Youtube Video for link to “Where we stayed.” Thanks for commenting. It helps our business grow. Best, Dan

  20. GOOD VIDEO!! HAVING SAID THAT, REAL ESTATE PRICES IN YOUR SO-CALLED ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE COUNTRIES (AUSTRALIA, CANADA, U.S.A.,U.K., ITALY, FRANCE, ETC) HAVE PLUNGED BY AT LEAST -20% IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS AND PROPERTY PRICES IN THOSE COUNTRIES WILL CONTINUE TO COLLAPSE OVER THE NEXT 2 YEARS AS THIS GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS INEVITABLY TURNS INTO A GREAT DEPRESSION WORLDWIDE!!

  21. People loving their countries i.e nationalism is a good thing and self loathing people who donโ€™t love their own countries is a scourge on society.

You give really awful financial advice.

  23. I truely do enjoy learning from your insight….. but, if you please~ I have a question about Cebu Philippines?
I have been back and forth since 94…even built a nipa on beach w/o water/cr or ac and spent 3months outta the year for 5yrs. I feel I’m fairly well adapted to Philippines and the culture? I went to write songs (being ex road and stage manager) but instead wrote 23 articles for newspapers and magazines about country and people. I was to sell my house and property to relocate to Cebu were I have a thriving business (shut down temp w/C-19 )
My son is Phil-Am so if when I bought property it would be under his name. I understand your points %200 but have that “driving force” to build my design……
Your thoughts are highly valued and appreciated ! Patrick
