  1. Very cool Bud! At first I thought you had purchased a ukulele…jeje! I have several so the case looked like a ukulele to me at first. I am originally from San Antonio, so grew up listening Conjunto music (drummer, bass, 3-row button accordion, and bajo sexto). I had several accordions and played them jamming with my friends. I ended playing the trumpet throughout Jr HS and HS, but always wanted to play guitar. So, now I own several guitars I mess around with. A few years ago, I ran into a website, The Mandolin Cafe, so I ended up with a couple mandolins. The play both bluegrass and Old Timey music in the videos they share. Have fun with your fiddle! Tony…

  2. I’m from WV, and we pronounce that area the Ap uh lay shun (Appalachian) Mountains. I think, you are correct with that wordπŸ‘It is happy music from my opinion. Thank you for sharing, Sir Bud.

  3. This video Mr Brown reminds me of a wonderful Old Time Stringband called Foghorn Stringband the now members are four great musician Caleb Klauder & Reeb Willms who are married now and Nadine Laundry & Stephen Lind who are also now married together ,they are the finest West Coast Stringband I listen to them all the time love everything they do ,check them out your be hooked just like me to there wonderful songs and music ,I’m an Englishman but love this kind of music as a kid we listened to a lot of Irish traditional folk ,its all great stuff and like you say you just have to stamp or tap your feet or just get up and dance thank you Mr Brown πŸ™‚

  4. My family is like yours. We originally came from northern Maine/Canada and moved south to southern New England during the war years of 1940-53. My father stayed a potato farmer in his thinking all of his life. We didn’t fit in with the old-time Ct natives.
We’ve waited for 2 videos to hear you play the fiddle.

  5. It took me a while but I did remember the story. I was thinking you bought the violin for a gift for someone. Ok now I’m waiting for your fiddling. Best wishes Bob.

  6. Hi Bud-I loved your history of music.I play the Banjo-a good partner to the fiddle.JOKE-What is the difference between a Banjo and a power mower???ANS,Youcan tune a mower. Jim Blankenship

  7. You’re a great story teller. I like hearing your stories. I was moved by your emotion about your mother. I’m sure you bonded when she taught you those tunes. I am looking forward to hearing you play.

  8. I wish you all the best with your fiddle and your fiddle stick mate.I totally love hearing the fiddle played especially songs like cotton eye joe and upbeat songs.Like you I love country and what I call southern style music.Sadly I cannot play anything except stupid, lol. Cheers.
