    1. i do kinda push myself.  i’ll slow down, someday.  But good news is i am able to sleep on buses, planes, etc.  unless i’m watching the scenery from the deck or window.  🙂

    1. @Bernie Cook CJ’s closed down around february of 2013.  he had a big christmas bash, another for thanksgiving.  several rumors out about ‘why’.. but nobody will go on record as to what the real story is.  but he has since re-opened a new CJ’s in Spring, Texas, USA.

    2. @LifeBeyondTheSea – Philippines  ok thanks Henry, when did chicago joe’s shut down and do you know why for what reason this place looked like a nice eatery I was only looking at your video of this business a few days ago

    3. @Bernie Cook yah.. that’s my ‘usual’ part i mentioned.  hehe.  although ever since chicago joe’s shut down, i’ll go to the Luxor over on mactan.

    1. @Lawrence Jones from cebu city to duma.. about 5 hours.  but from duma to cebu island ‘shore’.. about a 20 minute ride across the channel.  🙂

  1. I take this ferry every year, Henry, since my parents live in Siaton, approx. 1 hr bus ride from Dumaguete. Nice seeing your videos. Started seeing them last week. I love them all. I miss Dumaguete and Cebu very much. I’m glad you are there and show us the nice scenery, everyday life and the people. I love to hear your impressions of our culture; our way of thinking. Most of them are very familiar to me, but very special to hear from you. You describe it so nicely and informative. No doubt that you love my home country very much. Best regards from Norway.

  2. I wonder if you might advise me. I’m considering a trip to Davao City in Mindanao to see a lady I’ve been writing there. I have been told there are safety concerns; what can you tell me, as someone who knows the Philippines, what the real world risks are? Thanks…Jeff

    1. Jeff. i was in Davao Last Feb 2014 and will be returning again Feb 2015. I found it to be very Safe. The areas in Mindanao that one would have to be very careful is much much farther south of there. As a matter of fact some consider Davao to be the 4th safest city in the world!! Even in many other parts of Phils the NPA can be a problem. As with most things if life a little common sense goes a long way Ingat!

    2. @Jeff Hensley i would first suggest reading the travel advisories against going to mindanao’s south regions.  some say it is ‘safer’ in davao but it still means the areas around it are ‘unsafe’.  personally, i don’t feel safe there, but i know others feel otherwise and live there long-term.  i can only make a decision for myself.  but you should start with a Google search for the words; “Mindanao Davao Travel Safety” and read some of the links you get so that you will at least be informed what you are walking into.  I have found, myself, that the Visayas (central region) has plenty to offer and explore without those risks.

  3. i need to figure out a easier way for the trip i hear lots say airport in bohol but the flight i took ended at cebu then i had to take a fast craft there 🙂 talking about this because the boat ride memory 🙂

    1. @ace24680 for about $80 there’s a small plane that flies from cebu to duma in about an hour.  otherwise, it’s the 5-hour bus ride for $5.
