  1. Baht is high and usd is low, right? We had the high problem here. Luckily the government fixed it and it never really hurt our economy even everyone was complaining. Getting 34 thb for 1CHF on transferwise

  2. Same as the pound we did Brexit and I thought the pound would go up 4 years crap exchange rate was 52 now 40 it’s not as cheap as it was.

  3. philippines $1.00=P48.41has more islands more ms universe winners nicer womens and official language tagalog and english catholic also have international foods

  4. It’s because of the Federal Reserve printing money. New statistic a few weeks ago was 23.7% of all US money was printed in 2020. Vast majority of that ends up in the stock market. Also the low interest rates

  5. We have not seen the worst…. far from it. Printing 3 Trillion USD in 2020 and not slowing down in 2021 (10 Trillion by end of 2021) will keep devaluing the US dollar…..The Great Reset is real and I suspect that the dollar will be replaced by digital currency, very soon. For anyone holding large cash reserves, I would seriously look at moving it to Gold, Silver, Crypto Currency or Property very soon

  6. Rob, there is a lot of things that influence money exchange, but the most powerful aspect of economic exchange rate is the stability and growth of the future in the country for long term investments. Thailand future, even in the face of the Pandemic, is nothing but exponential growth and development. The USA however is struggling just to stay afloat economically. So the worldwide money movement controlled by the banks and big investment companies see Thailand as a much better investment long term than the United States. So more money is moved into Thailand to loan to the government and private business to build roads, transportation, hotels, condominium, shopping mauls and infra structure. Therefore the Thailand currency, the Baht is viewed as strong and growing more stronger again the dollar because money is not flowing into the USA for investment, but is being. taken out. Well, what about the strength of the New York Stock exchange, yes it is strong and strengthening, however most if not the overwhelming majority of the companies represented on the stock exchange are not just a USA company but a world wide company and. the investors in the New York Stock exchange is not just the USA but the USA and the rest of the world. So the New York Stock exchange has little to do with the nature of the USA economy.

  7. U$D: Goin _Down_ , Goin _Down Now_ , Goin _Down_ , Goin _Down Now_ … Goin, goin, goin… Gone!
    – Buy Bitcoin (or Eth) and it’s ” _Up_ , _up and away_ !”: the crypto currency way. China Yuan almost fully digital now.

  8. When I first came to Thailand in 2003, it was 40 Baht to the dollar. In 2011, when I came back the second time, it was 35 to the dollar.
I’m going back to America next month, unless I can’t, and I don’t know that I will ever have enough money to return.

  9. The dollar is weakening due to quantative easing, increased national borrowing/debt and because the financial world believes Biden/Harris will increase both of those…
Against pretty much every other currency the Baht is slightly weaker.

  10. Hey Rob .. the exchange rate sucks as a retiree for all of us Americans in Thailand. As we say , It is what it is . Also I was in Nan last week in the mountains and it was 7 Celsius . ❄️

  11. First time in Thailand was 2005.
I was 17 years old and 72 baht to the £.
Now 15 years later I’m accepting over 40 baht to the £ as a rate I’m willing to exchange at.
    Crazy times 555.

  12. Hey Thai rob, A side rob here! this is for fun i’m not a financial advisor! It looks in the 5 yrs you’ve been there to see the rate change first hand,.,no dates just look back 5 yrs it was hitting under 30k baht but bounced in less than a yr. up above 33k,.,.,.,now just back to 30k but bouncing to its old familiar high! could be a higher high and if so look to 34k baht plus some GL my friend the mrkt repeats itself ,.,just look left on the charts! peace

  13. The FED is plundering the Amerikans. And the people in US dont realize it. They cant see it. You live with a foreign currency , and see it every single day.

  14. The Bath is not getting stronger it is the USD that is getting weaker, a year ago got 3:10 Baht for a Swedish krona and now I get almost 3:70 and the Bath continues to weaken against the Swedish krona

  15. Emerging market, such as Thailand, borrow money to build infrastructure like the high-speed rail system. They borrow in US dollars because I get a lower interest rate. On the Thai baht is strong, and US dollars week it helps Thailand’s exports. Makes it much easier for Thailand to pay for the high-speed rail system and other infrastructure park projects. The China belt and Road project is financed with borrowed US dollars. Collapsing weaker dollars better for the world economy, but not so good for America.

  16. Rob when we first went To Thailand 20years ago we got 80 baht to the pound it’s was a paradise for bars women every year it’s got worse and that’s due to the corruption in the government and all the dirty money they have they are destroyed the country when it comes to £3 for a bottle of beer it’s time to find a different place

  17. In the past year, America has decided to become Zimbabwe (or Weimar Germany). The value of the stock market is not doing all that well when you compare it against the decrease in the value of the dollar. Thailand does not have the ability to print money out of thin air the way that the US does. That’s why the US Dollar is collapsing against most other currencies.

  18. It’s not just outside of the USA. It’s inside the USA too. The price of milk has increased by 70 cents/1 dollar a gallon. If you want, I can get you some current prices of specific items? Let me know.

  19. Sterling has dropped against the Thai Baht 25% in 5 years. 2/3rds of that I put down to Brexit. It dropped like a stone after the referendum results were published.

  20. I’ve lived here 13 years. And my first time here was 30 years ago. Most countries manipulate their currency. This year the U. S. listed Thailand on the Watch List.

  21. Its chaos in USA so the USD go down, fewer countries trust in the crazy country anymore. Hope Trump go Up in smoke, BLM terrorism go Up in smoke , Corona Panic and alot of other things to, then the USD Will Go Up. I dont use USD so for me its perfect if I need to travel

  22. Insert the liberal mindset into any economy where unlimited entitlements and open borders become the norm, and that country will fail. The U.S. is experiencing this now and with a major push for socialism the country has crossed the event horizon. I’m just glad my grandparents don’t have to witness this.

  23. there is some strange now – euro and dollar are at the same level in thailand, but in europe the exchange rate is – 1 € = 1.2998 usd – could you use that in any way / In the late 90s the dollar was at 26 thb but there is a time every year when Thailand has to pay its loan to America and then the Bath goes up

  24. The dollar is on the way to a crash it’s in freefall. We have a 2 tier financial system on the way. And we are all heading for a digital dollar. The dollar will go to zero this year or by end of next year. Because we are in a debt-based system that’s heading for a crash head-on. I have been buying bitcoin for the last 6 years. It was $35,000 U.S and heading for $200,000 by end of 2021. I have now 50 bitcoins and if these price actions are correct then it will make my retirement money. There is already a coin out with a $ sign on it on the cryptocurrency exchanges. So digital wallets will be from the federal reserve. This is all by design. The digital dollar will replace the physical dollar. Other countries will adopt their own digital currencies and china is already using digital in certain parts. Institutions are buying millions of bitcoin in preparation.

  25. aud is going back up december 2019 it was hovering around 20 baht to 1 aud now its up 23.3 baht to 1 aud keep on going will make going on a trip over there much better

  26. I think that the US is pretty weak economically and politically right now. However, I also think that someone(s) is working behind the curtain to manipulate certain currencies – including bitcoin and the bhat. I know I sound nuts but heck this wouldn’t be the craziest things that have happened recently.

  27. When we were there last y… in 2019, it was 20 Thai Baht per AUD so since most things work around 100 bht increments in Patong it was about $5 for a beer. Now it is just over $4 for a beer. .. except I can’t get there. And yeah the AUD to the USD is good. I am guessing it is the covid USD that is dropping since it used to be AUD to 70 cents USD and is now 77cents USD so that is a 10% improvement of the AUD against the USD in about a month. maybe something to do with the election. As you say, nobody knows unless they are inside and most of us aint inside.

  28. Well Thailand Rob, considering the covid situation & the currency thai baht situation, now is not the right time for retirement in Thailand! 😥 guess I’ll stay in Florida for now!! I’ll get there someday! Still owe you a beer !!🍺…✌✌✌

  29. I would be buying USD at the moment as it seems to be cheaper than usual. Not as cheap as it was a few years ago when the Aussie dollar was dollar for dollar to the US. Maybe that is about to happen again.

  30. For years the Thai Baht went between 25 to 27 to one dollar. I lived in Thailand from the late 80s all the way through the 90s. On July 2nd 1997 Thailand unpegged the baht from the US dollar and adopted a floating exchange rate. At one point the dollar was worth over 50 baht. That was the end of my business and time for me to move my family back to the states. I know that was off topic. Just wanted to share.

  31. On a different note, five years ago when I set up my 800,000 baht for my retirement visa the rate was about 37:1… now that money is just sitting in the bank and always will. From my perspective, that substantial chunk of money has grown by 20% against the USD.

  32. The dollar retreated as the Federal Reserve and other central banks flooded the international financial system with liquidity, reducing risk. … A weaker dollar — and a continued downtrend — is generally seen as a positive for U.S. and global equities.

  33. The issue for western countries is huge sovereign debt…..with central banks printing there way out of things…….causing weakness in the dollar amongst other currencies like the pound and euro. Western countries also have huge social security and health care systems which need propping up even more under the world wide sickness…..where as Thailand doesn’t have the same obligations.

Thailand has kept is debt to gdp ratio much lower and therefore its currency has prospered. That saying the effects of little tourism will eventually cause major issues.

  34. hi Rob, the USA FED is printing more and more money which devalues the dollar. This will get worse as Fiat money is collapsing. Get your money out the banks buy gold silver and BitCoin.
Do this now whilst you have dollars before its worthless.

  35. HEY ROB, HERE I THOUGHT YOU UNDERSTOOD ALL ABOUT MONEY. LOL IT’S CALLED CURRENCY MANIPULATION. CHINA IS DOING IT BIG TIME. I GUESS THAILAND HAS SEEN CHINA DO IT SO SUCCESSFULLY THEY PROBABLY FIGURED THEY WOULD TRY IT. SO FAR IT HAS WORKED FOR THEM. BUT ONCE IT GETS TO A CERTAIN POINT IT WILL TURN AROUND AND BITE THEM IN THE BUTT. I WILL ALSO MENTION THAT THE U.S. HAS MADE IT SO PEOPLE ARE TAKING A LONG HARD LOOK AT THE U.S. DOLLAR BECAUSE WE HAVE INCREASED OUR DEBT LOAD AS A NATION SO MUCH. YOU HAVE TO ASK YOURSELF WHERE IS ALL OF THIS 2.3 TRILLION DOLLARS COMING FROM.

IT’S SO EASY FOR CONGRESS TO PASS A BILL FOR SAVING THE PEOPLE THAT ARE SUFFERING BECAUSE OF COVID-19 BUT WHERE ARE THEY GOING TO GET THIS MONEY? I’LL TELL YOU WHERE. THEY ARE GOING TO JUST PRINT IT. THAT MAKES IT WORTHLESS. THEY HAVE TO SELL BONDS AND SELL THEM TO INVESTORS AND I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY ANYONE WOULD WANT TO BUY THEM. I SURE AS HELL WOULDN’T.

PRIOR TO THE SECOND WORLD WAR, CHINA WAS PRINTING MONEY AS FAST AS IT COULD. MY DAD WAS IN CHINA AT THE TIME WHEN JAPAN INVENTED CHINA AND LIVING WITH A WOMAN THAT WAS PART OF THE ROYAL FAMILY. THE JAPANESE TOOK OVER THE FORBIDDEN CITY AND KICKED THEM ALL OUT. DAD WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE TO GET A LOAF OF BREAD AND A QUART OF MILK AND IT CAME TO JUST UNDER ONE MILLION WHATEVER THEIR MONEY WAS CALLED. I STILL HAVE SOME OF THAT MONEY. WE USED TO PLAY WITH IT WHEN WE WERE KIDS. I HEAR IT’S WORTH QUITE A BIT NOW. DAD SAID THAT PEOPLE WERE WALKING AROUND WITH BASKETS FULL OF MONEY AND NO ONE WOULD TAKE IT. I DON’T REMEMBER EXACTLY HOW MUCH DAD CAME HOME WITH BUT I’M SURE IT WAS MILLIONS.

  36. In 2005 I was getting 41 to $1. This will only get worse with the amount of money the US is printing. However, a low US dollar could cause other currencies to come down as well.

  37. It’s not the Thai baht, it’s Donald Trump’s mismanagement, so that the dollar loses value worldwide.
look to China or Europe the currency is stable only the Dollar lost😣

  38. Endless money printing by the US Federal Reserve means more money chasing less things….so the value of the dollar relative to EVERYTHING goes down.

    Smiple 🙂

  39. i heard something about china forcing thailand to take up their social credit score system because of all the money thailand supposedly owes china. dont know if its true.

  40. Yeah the exchange rate is crap for almost all currencies, but I expect the Baht to get weaker in this year.
But this is nothing compared to when I came back to the UK from Australia in 1988.
I decided to spend a week in Japan. I booked flights and hotels in both UK and Japan. I was glad I booked and paid for the Japanese hotels 3 months before I left. The exchange rate went from 300 yen to the dollar to 87 yen to the dollar, in those 3 months. I knew food was going to be expensive in Japan, but it became very very expensive.
I hope you had a very good New Year.

  41. Currency speculation: You buy a million dollars worth of Baht, wait a month then buy back dollars and make a few hundred thousand dollars. Same thing happened to the pound in the 2000s. The trouble is that it makes a crash even worse when it finally happens.

  42. Another reasons to make Thai Baht increase value is because of C19.

After goverment need money to solve the problem of pandermic, but the financials law is not allowed the goverment to get the loan from overseas since economy crisis in 1997.

The only way goverment can do is to make domestic loan by sale the goverment bond to Thai citizen only by 3% interest rate. And yes every Thai people who has USD in savings account immediately change their USD to be Th/Baht to buy goverment bond, and when everybody need a lot of Th/Baht in the same time then it make price for Th/Baht is increasing as natural marketing procedure.

    I don’t know why farang don’t understand…????

  43. It’s supply and demand Rob. Just like the Philippine Peso which appears stronger than the USD. Since the economic downturn has caused less demand to import goods which uses hard curency like USD, Euro, Pounds, etc. there is less demand for acquiring USD which drives the local currency up. When economic activity reutrns to somewhat normal then the FX rate will settle to where it should be like when imports are up and people starts traveling agin and needs those Pounds, USD or Euros, etc.

  44. I’ve always thought about asking you this question… “Do you have a Plan B in the event that something super bad happens (lets say from a financial perspective) and you cannot survive in Thailand… what will you do?”
