  1. Very informative. Thanks Mark. Remember, you call it a CR. ๐Ÿ˜‰. I guess $1300 is a good number. Being from south Texas and never grew up in a household having air con, I can do without it. Last year, I was in Laguna for 25 days. Rented an apartment. Never touched the AC.

Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘. You’re awesome.

  2. 1300 not bad at all being so close to the beach . I been looking around 10k for apartment. Hard to find fully furnished so hopefully something comes up the time we looking . Want to rent to see if we like the area of la union then buy a house . Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll like just from your videos. I canโ€™t stand Manila

  3. Mark that was an excellent video and covered a topic a lot of us are interested in, so thanks.
For us we’ll be living a bit tight for the first 5 years or so, … until our condo in San Fernando, Pampanga is paid for. I figure that alone will run us a bit less than $1,100.00 CDN per month, and that won’t include condo fees or utilities. Once the Mortgage is paid off however we’ll just have the condo fees and utilities to pay.
As far as food I like my western style meals at least some of the time so I expect our food budget to be a lot higher than yours. Fortunately our condo’s right across the street from a S&R so it shouldn’t be too hard to find most of what I like to eat.
There are a few other ideas I’m kind of kicking around too such as leasing out the condo after we have it set up, and just going to the family home in Dumangas, Iloilo. It’s a big 4 bedroom house with 4 bathrooms and lots of room for us if we decide to go that way.
Thanks again for a very realistic cost of living video my friend. I too have seen the ones where people say you can live on $500.00 a month, … but for me that’s nowhere close to what I could live on.

  4. You didn’t get into the “grey” areas of real life that some may need extra money for. Health Insurance. Depending on age, that can be $50-$250 a month, depending on coverage and age. Medicare is not good there for the most part. You may have to pay some low fees for your Pinay wife or girlfriend’s health insurance. Another grey area I’d say that hits over 50% of guys is an allowance for your girlfriend. This may cover money for just herself and things she wants to use for herself and also possibly her family needs help with emergency money. As a Westerner, some families will ask for your help. So an allowance or emergency money maybe $20- who knows what? . $1,000 to pay for a father’s cancer or out patient care and medicines they need and the family can not raise the cash. So you get hit with this sad news and must decide to help it let them suffer. Many expats give a few dollars allowance to girlfriend’s or wives. So she can but gifts and things. Living with a Westerner is going to put pressure on her to “share the wealth”. Depends on the family and her relationship with them and how they were raised.
This important “grey area”, could be a topic all in itself.
    Great video Mark๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“
