  1. Good interview Joe , seems a nice sensible guy with his head screwed on , good to see he is a great keep fit addict I would imagine a discipline from his military days similar to yourself . Be interesting to see if they do settle in Pratchup , I wish them well for the future

  2. This is a very interesting topic. I’ve never met anyone who married a bargirl. I know this is something people did in the 90s and early 2000s but surprised it’s still a thing

  3. Hi gift and joe thai lady have a hard life until they get lucky enough to meet a farang l have a great thai lady and have met some good some bad hope you are both well stay safe from frank in the uk London

  4. What a nice couple , what a great story of love and commitment , they look so comfortable and happy , and the reality is of course your going to have ups and downs , through the course of a relationship , communication and understanding is the key ,of each other’s differences both as a man and woman and culturally . We hear so many bad stories that it’s easy to think you can’t find a good thai woman for marriage , but you definitely can and our Belgium friend is proof , Great video joe and gift .

  5. As usual Joe, you are a cordial man, who interviews, and tells the story of the show perfectly, it’s fun to see you and gift, look happy and loving, keep it up, thank you Tobi from Israel

  6. Hello Joe and Gift, WOW a real positive outcome of a foreigner meeting a Thai bar girl, I am sure there are many more but only the really bad ones make the gossip news.
Great interview and you captured the magic between Phil and his lovely wife Mon so well.
Great job, no doggies so only 10/10 LOL, when I get over there I will have to make you a KIWI burger, no it doesn’t have Kiwi birds,. or Kiwi fruit in it, sadly you may have to wait a while. Keep well Be safe.

  7. The only problem with Thai wife is you must to take care of the parents, build house for them, and pay many things, but it’s ok if you can’t find nice woman in Europe

  8. Good interview and great story. For Mon it is a sad classic true story and for Phil is a kind of cool blooded experience. Now their situation is at the best for both of them. For the success about these kind of long time long distance relationship, my (now dead) german friend told be the statistics were very poor when the thai people is staying into farang country. If I remember : 1 success for about 6 failures in germany, my german friend included. A main point to understand is : it is the previous generation of thai people!!, those who survived the dark ages of the monetary crisis in the 80’s (good to remember those times, when many companies and expats flown away from Thailand….because, it looks like the same for other reasons in 2020). You have not the same mindset for the new generation, the “young chicken girls/women” as called by my lovely defunct TGF. For place to stay in Thailand, it is sure for me than the south east coast is interesting…long time ago, Hua Hin was one plan for many swiss retireees. Prachuap Khiri Kan just a little south…but in next few years, it will be so easy to go by train from there to Bangkok.

  9. My friend (41-years-old) was giving 20,000 baht a month to his Thai girlfriend. He lost his job for 6 months because of COVID. He told her he can’t pay for 6 months. Next minute, she dumped him. And now she is with some 60 year old obese man.

  10. Hi Joe Gift, a wonderful story. That man is a true gentleman and his wife is very nice, it goes to show it can workout for anyone when you click, just as myself and partner soon to be wife. Thanks for the video

  11. Joe, that intro music kept reminding me of some song, and now I think its a mild version of Buckets of Rain and Bob Dylan, anyway, ignore the bs, that was another enjoyable vlog, God Bless

  12. Very good video…it’s both sad and happy. I am very glad they have found each other and are doing well, it is uplifting to say the least. It is videos like this (and others you have done), that show the positivity and I think for lack of better words the “goodness” that life has to offer when you find the right person, no matter how far you have to go to find them. Thank you for sharing. And please thank them for sharing their story as well.

  13. Its an interesting story Joe good to hear a successful relationship thats stronger than most ‘western’ relationships. Very open people credit to them for being so honest a lot would perhaps try and hide their beginnings its nice to see down to earth people being truthful about themselves.
Great interview Joe thanks a lot for sharing the story.
    By the way…
Belgium has the best strong beer in the world bar none 💪 😝

    Thumbs up from UK 🇬🇧

  14. Hi Joe, could you please turn on the autogenerated captions? I don’t know why but they seem to be off/unavailable in this video. Thanks
I’m having an hard time understanding what your guest says sometimes.

  15. I respect an honest, gritty story that ends in long term love and commitment. Its true that many people would be embarrassed and lie about their past but people that judge you for one thing will just judge you for another. So lay out the truth of your path and be proud of overcoming a difficult past and being in an awesome present day!!

  16. Good interview. You constantly surprise me with your natural ability to interview and let the person lead the conversation without interrupting. Interesting couple too. Stay safe.

  17. I want to retire with financial free like him so many relaxed places in Thailand to chill out. 50,000 THB spending per month is rather high in the country.

  18. Good interview Joe , it does not matter if bar girl or not , what matters if have connection in my view , people will say they just want money but every relationship I have had with western women we always shared the money on bills or whatever so no difference! Congrats to that couple

  19. Interesting story. It seemed that she always remained in Thailand while he lived abroad, so would have been interesting to know how much time they lived together over those 21 years and how many years he has been living in Thailand full time. Reminds me of the saying the key to a good marriage is time apart. I suggest that to my wife jokingly some times and she replies by letting me spend the rest of the night apart in the spare room. 555

  20. Nice video Joe. There are a ton of rock solid down to Earth ladies who happen to work in a bar. I met my future wife in a bar as well, best decision I ever made!!!

  21. 2020 has been a year to forget but let’s take away the positives. This story is one of those positives from 2020. I hope 🙏 they will be happy.

  22. Us Ex military guys always find and support each other. He seems pretty squared away. I guess it just shows that it can be possible to meet a bar girl and it work out we’ve all just heard many horror stories. I’m a burger guy so I would be there every week too!

  23. Good video Joe. A lot of deeper insights there I wish you would have got into regarding bar girl relationships. But regardless, thank you for touching on the subject.

  24. Most ‘bar’ stories don’t end well from what I’ve seen. Just like Phil said he has friends that divorced with bar girls. Tread lightly if you ever go down that path. I would personally never consider it.

  25. A very nice couple who despite the hardships of life have obviously managed to make a decent life together from nothing. What a great interview and a heart warming story. It makes a pleasant change to hear one that has a happy ending. Wishing them happiness, good health and good prosperity for their future. Thanks for sharing this with us Joe and Gift. 🙏

  26. Hi Joe, thanks for your videos, if you want to cancel the flickers you can change the camera frequency setup to the local electric power supply, in Thailand it’s 50Hz

  27. So great that you can show the positive side of what is so widely spread as a commonality amongst most Thai women who live in bar areas. What many discount immediately is the real reason for their position and reason why they are working there….and that is to support their family or children back in the village. Yes there are those that are out there to exploit and scam farang for their money and nothing more but there are just as many that are genuinely there for a life partner. It is up to the individual to assess and develop a trusting relationship to truly see the person they are willing to commit to….that advise echoes anywhere in the world..not just Thailand.

  28. HEY JOE AND GIFTAND PHIL AND MON, SUCH A NICE COUPLE. IT WAS AN EXCELLENT INTERVIEW AND I HOPE TO SEE MORE OF THEM. SO SORRY I WASN’T ABLE TO MAKE IT TO YOUR MEETUP WHILE YOU WERE IN BANGKOK BUT I REALLY NEEDED TO GET THE WARDROBES MOVED BEFORE I GO INTO THE HOSPITAL. AS IT WAS IT TOOK THE ENTIRE DAY TO GET IT DONE. I DIDN’T GET ALL OF IT DONE BUT WE DID A BIG PORTION OF IT FINISHED. I’M HOPING AFTER ABOUT A MONTH I CAN MOVE AROUND ENOUGH TO FINISH THE KITCHEN AND MY WALK IN CLOSET THAT I’M CREATING WITH THE WARDROBES.

    TALK LATER.

  29. Nice video Joe….and very interesting. My thoughts are that most bar girls are no different than anyone else. They work bar because they need the money for family, and they hope to meet a special someone for a lasting relationship. Just as it happened for this lucky couple. Congrats to them and to you and Gift also. You seem very happy together. I know that she didn’t work bar, but if she had, would it matter? As long as you are happy together that’s all that matters.

  30. **Congratulations to Phil and Mon. Nice story happy things worked out. WOW! 50,000 TB per month, if I had 30,000 per month I would stay forever. I cannot wait to get back to Chiang Rai, I miss my wife.*👍😎*

  31. Wonderful story, no need to be ashame of working as a bar girl, the past has gone,
I have seen teacher, nurse etc. dating online and go with ‘farang’ behide their husband ( husband known as the wife go to ‘seminar’) , different farang until she meet the ‘right’ guy, then time to sail the drunk husband down the river 😅

Thanks Joe for sharing , bless you all.

  32. Wow…Mon had it tough.
Nice video Joe and love to see great relationships like Phil and Mon have.
Whatever is in the past is irrelevant when you find something as special as what they have together.
