  2. @Gio in the Philippines – too late to post this live in premier chat – FYI, I may even have access to tiny but new, good value studio apartments available for rent in Cagayan de Oro – building there now and will be finished soon.

  3. City Life is for work, study, dating, active life. Province life is for when you found your mate and you settle down into more family and friends circle, ranch or beach life, where you relax more among your established social circle of FF. It happens naturally 🙂

  4. I love the safety of Island life. Camiguin is by far the safest place Ive ever lived and ive lived in several places in america and south america . But now we cant leave the island. Its strict here . But almost no covid. I miss the malls . It is a trade off. Safe clean and boring !

  5. I’ve visited Philippines a few times but due to Covid-19 I will need to go back on a Trial run basis again before retiring there.

  6. You guys need to evaluate the construction of the complex you live in. It is possible to build condos and apts that are soundproof. I’m not familiar with the building codes or if there is the equivalent of a building and code enforcement department to pull the construction plans. Or, buy a boat and be a live aboard. No roosters, neighbors, freedom to move away from any noise sources on demand, and not tied to any city or the need to find a new dwelling.

  7. All good points guys. 5 to 6 years is breaking point for change with lots of expats in many countries I hear. Me, I want to explore and see things and places not ready for roots. Smiles

  8. You said it right…enjoy the condos while they are not filled up. Heck by that time, your 6 month lease will be up and it might be time to travel elsewhere. I know Paul is talking about trying out Luzon next.

  9. Hello Gio and Paul. My choice is very simple, to continue living in the USA, bring my Fiance here, and travel as a tourist to different destinations with her as much as my health can handle it. Thanks and enjoy your day!

  10. This may sound like a dumb question but what do you mean by province? Is this the same as living in the “country” in the USA? A person living in the country in the USA has access to shopping malls, grocery stores, pharmacies, hospitals, etc. Is a province different from this?

  11. I like just out side the city{30 min} The city is too busy for me. Just like I live just out side of Nashville now. Only go to city once every 3 months.

  12. Ultimately everything changes and very few people think change is good. That’s why I believe you’re right to rent. When things get old, you move on. Carpe diem!

  13. you know what i find when people say you can not live on xmount of money like you can not live in the philippines on $ 1000.00 a monthly payment are only those who are rich people for they do not know how to live on less then 2k month in the first place you ask any one that mad money less then 30k year they know how to live on lot less then 2k month like i am in the USA i have been living on only $1150 a month just fine so if i am living on that now in the USA you will still say i can not live in the philippines on that same mount there what a joke. i do know there are people living on lot less then that. like i saide only rich people will say what you have siad in this video. i just wish people would get a grip on reality on what real people are doing and just stop saying you can not live on anything less then 2k i am not saying that living on 2k is better to live on but reality show most do not even have the chance to live on that much and were they are living now on the money they are getting they still will have a better life there in philippines then any were else. for those that are looking to move there they may be looking for a girl friend thay may one day marry. there in lot more to moving to philippines then just the cost for me i am 62 years old in the usa there are not girls that would even look at me even those of the same age as i am so if i do look for a girl freind i would need to leave the USA to be able to find one in the first place the other thing . so stop it all ready saying you can not live on xmount of money.

  14. Great job Geo and Paul. City life is for people who want the luxuries of having everything there and more choices of things to do. Province life is limited and if you need anything besides food you need to go to the city. Short version is City buzzing and Province is slow. Personally I prefer province life because it’s more beautiful and green and no pollution. Please keep up the dual conversations because you guys are the best together. Thank you 🙏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  15. Nice talks. 🤣Gio asking Paul what do you think some of the pros of living in the province are,Paul replys Zero🤣JK. For myself I can’t do Manila pollution, traffic and just too congested. Spent most of my time in General Santos and that was too slow, found it to be boring. A lot of traffic but tricycle traffic. Really enjoyed Davao lots too do many nice places to eat,the city I felt was pretty clean not much pollution.Traffic at times can get bad,but all in all I really like Davao. Enjoyed the conversation guys.

  16. Let’s see. You’re looking for a place with a quiet country charm, access to malls, clean, good infrastructure, good healthcare, folks with the same culture as yours…sounds like your typical American suburb.

  17. My plan is to spend fall/winter in the Cebu city, late spring/summer in the west. I’m city guy I need to engage with people, be near many restaurants, health care facilities, good housing and semi modern transportation. I can’t stand barking dogs, or noisy roosters all the time. I think I’ll be bored out my mind if I live in the province.

  18. I’m not sure that when the Phils opens up that there’ll suddenly be a mass wave of people all renting out those condos. Prices will be a lot more and that’ll probably put a lot of people off.

  19. Big Philippines cities are absolute chaos with excessive traffic and population density i wouldnt live. Provinces like Bohol would be so boring for me i am a city boy from London. Medium cities like Angeles would suit me best. I need action and seeing people around cant live isolated life. Province life is like living in a pandemic permenant.

  20. For me personally I after watching some of yours and the 2xPaul’s videos I think I would move around the Philippines. ½ year here, 1 year there. (if money allow it that is 😉 )

  21. I think it’s hilarious that people who move abroad and to these third-world countries always want to compare what they have there to the West. For me, it doesn’t matter if I don’t have all the conveniences of the West. I’m going there to emerse myself into a new culture, learn the language, do service work, help the needy where I can. Be a part of the community, which is no longer valued in west. I’m not there to indulge or bring Western values and/or the culture because that’s exactly what drove me away. What’s really annoying is the arrogance. So what if there is no Starbucks nearby,. How about sitting around with your friends under a palm enjoying fresh cocunut juice that you picked out and the local boy scurried up the tree to get for you. Now, that is a cherished moment, sitting in a coffee shop doing the same thing you would do in the west is not. Just saying.

  22. Hi guys always watch your videos I find them interesting but I do think everybody have got to be honest with themselves two main things that attract foreigners to the Philippines is the women and the lower cost of living but to benefit from the lower cost of living you have to live like a Filipino if you want the comforts around you like you are used to in the West you can have it it’s there in the Philippines but you will pay Western prices at the moment make hay as the sun shines because prices will increase rapidly and affordability to live in the Philippines won’t be so attractive but keep on doing what you are doing guys enjoy life wish you all the best

  23. Great, short discussion Gio. The term “quality of life” can be somewhat subjective. As you pointed out, some people are happy in the province with a simple lifestyle, whereas we may prefer city conveniences with access to nature. Maybe, as we get older we will choose a simpler lifestyle. I think the most important thing guys can do, is do their own “boots on the ground” research, and don’t plant roots too early. Many channels about expat living are giving similar, good advice. I’m inclined to agree with you guys that as things return to normalcy, the area you live in now might get unlivable by todays standards. Sad, but cest la vie.

  24. You’re absolutely correct buddy human beings are their worst enemy wants to Philippines is back open for every Tom Dick and Harry to get on a plane and come over here trust me every Tom Dick and Harry will be back over here I remember back in the early 90s you were hard-pressed to see an expert anywhere life was great and Pooh tang was over abundance but since then before this pandemic came about you had ex-pats around every corner of every building it seems like in life when you find a good place and find a good thing word gets out and then other human beings want to be a part of that life and then it gets destroyed and overpopulated because now every Tom Dick and Harry wants to show up

  25. Its an interesting question – province life looks like it has its charm and simplicity, but it is a big lifestyle change for many coming from another culture. You either adjust and embrace it or reconsider the idea. Realistically, I think this decision should be made carefully and basing it more on your needs vs your wants. For an expat in their “golden years,” some may have health or medical issues that need to be closely managed. Living out in the province may not be advisable should you need to see a doctor at a well-equipped and established hospital. Provinces typically have very basic “med clinics” with minimal resources available. This probably won’t be as much of a concern if you’re younger and/or your overall health is very good….but it is something to consider based on your life situation. Personally, I wouldn’t mind visits out to province life…..maybe stay somewhere for 2 or 3 nights, but the novelty of taking a “bucket shower” will grow old quickly for me and I will want the conveniences I’m accustomed to like A/C, internet, hot shower, close shopping, etc.

  26. Hey GIO >>>GREAT CONVERSATION! I’ve always liked a COMBINATION of CITY LIFE & PROVINCE LIFE but i tend to prefer the CITY LIFE more…I need to be near good quality GYMS & COFFEE SHOPS & LAUNDRY SHOPS & RESTAURANTS, FRUIT MARKETS, FISH MARKETS & SHOPPING MALLS, but of course i love to explore the beauty of the provinces, WHITE SAND BEACHES & WATERFALLS….I was fortunate to be stationed in SUBIC BAY NAVAL BASE & I had the oppurtunity to explore BORACAY PALAWAN CEBU BOHOL LEYTE ILOILO BAGUIO CAVITE TAGAYTAY MINDORO TAGAYTAY PAMPANGA, ANGELES CITY, CLARK, MANILA…I never really liked MANILA, NICE PLACE TO VISIT FOR 3-4 DAYS BUT WAY TOO OVERCROWDED & TRAFFIC & POLLUTION….Thats why RENTING is much better than OWNING in the PHILIPPINES…YOU have the FREEDOM to go where ever you choose…I’ve been returning to PHILIPPINES every year since my days in U.S. NAVY & now I’m ready to RETIRE in CEBU…KEEP UP THE GREAT INFORMATIVE VIDEOS…THANKS !

  27. Hey Gio saw you on “Life With Mylyn” You have become a real YouTube celebrity in the Philippines 😀. Both you and Paul have very good common sense advice, and your honesty comes through. People who want or need things to be just like they were back home should probably only visit places. Coping with the nuances of contradictory ideas or experiences is mentally stressful. The 50 cent phycology word for this is “cognitive dissidence”. Your goal is to successfully adapt. It’s a process but if you fight it you will only be unhappy. I plan on giving it a shot next year after I retire. I’m not burning the ship (HMS Bounty) and I guess I’ll see if I have what it take to live a different life. Coffee’s on me if either of you two are still there.

  28. I would prefer to live close to malls as I don’t ride motorcycle, walking distance is my preference hence I am considering Cebu city & Davao

  29. I’m a bit of a wanderer, I wouldn’t want to settle anywhere permanently. I like to keep moving around and experience the best of both worlds. Maybe City for a month, then travel different islands for a month. Both city and provinces have their pros and cons.

  30. City life for me since I’m older and wants to be close to a good healthcare facility. In Cebu my friends bought condos in Mandani Bay in Mandaue where 2 new major hospitals are located, next to Cebu City and close to Mactan International Airport.

  31. Hey guys this is Olani, just a mid name. Keep an eye on Vietnam, the government here in Vietnam may soon ask the foreign expats to go back to there home
Towns and there seems to be crackdown on visa’s…so guys just keep an eye on this! I have been here 4 years and I’m leaving
Soon to go back home to Honolulu. Just a heads up! I’m going to miss it, but I have to take care of some business back home.
    Okay Gio keep sharing! Peace
