  1. Cool, looks great! The tests seem risky, especially when the government there is so extreme. I would just wait until things get better and the covid threat diminishes or you can self quarantine at your home. For now I would just dive where you are.

  2. It depends on how badly you want to go. If you want to go, take a preliminary test there in La Union. It sounds like you’re letting fear of the 15% false positive dictate what you do. I’m sure there will be other chances to do vacations if you decide to stay home, but did you move to the other side of the planet to always play it safe?

  3. yeah bro, 29% false positive…wait. I feel for my Filipino brothers and sisters that continues to take a hit from this damn COVID, and the restrictions that go with it. My wife and I were set to go Dec 2019, and had to cancel flights, hotels, and tours. I was heading to your area for a little recon…we’re waiting. Who can vacation with a 10 day mandatory quarantine waiting for you when you get there?

  4. It’s not worth it. Those Covid tests are extremely inaccurate. You go to a hotel you are more likely to come in contact with someone who does have it. You asked for ideas for content. You can’t really interview the locals right now. La Union has a
long history that you can research and do like the “you are there” videos that Walter Cronkite made so famous. I haven’t seen any video that you went into detail about the Silver Bullet. Options available. Things that you don’t like about it after a month of ownership. Good Luck and stay safe.

  5. If you can take the test there in La Union, the day of your travel, that would be ideal. Can you check with your health depth, maybe they can help.

  6. Good idea on the rapid tests i was wondering about that too. As far as going thats up to the individual B&L are good people i would go.

  7. What are the chances of securing a hospital bed in the event you catch a bug and hospitalization is necessary? I would be worried about that.

  8. Thanks for the info on the risk of traveling. That’s scary. Since the vaccine is fanning out slowly, it may be several months before they loosen up.
You might be able to get a test at the local clinic on Santa Rosa street (just south of the gym). If they don’t do it there, they probably know where to get it.
Bottom line: I wouldn’t take the chance.

  9. It would probably take around 10 -14 hrs to drive to the Batangas ferry terminal from San Juan, Depending what time of day you hit the traffic in Manila ( rush hour ) to Porto Galera. That’s not taking into account any road side check points, you might encounter on the way or how many. I would recommend leaving in the evening so you can arrive the next morning. If your able to take say a rapid PCR test around 8:30 pm and you left San Juan at 9 pm and drove straight to the Ferry terminal. You might be able to make it in 8 – 10 ish hours only stopping for gas. But Finding an open Gas station in the early morning hours could be an issue. It used not really be that recommended to travel at night for safety reasons. It was not unusual to hear stories of vehicles and buses being shot at or even robbed. Sometimes the check points are also a great way for the NPA to raise money by turning them into a road tolls. So be careful driving at night long distance the Philippines. But with the Covid lockdowns might be a lot safer these days. You should check if the Lorma Medical center has the PCR tests there cause they train or did train international medical students there.
Or you could just try diving in La Union instead. But Mindoro does have a protected Marine Sanctuary and the Diving there is awesome.
The other suggestion I have is to start a project like, Buying a lot and building a Villa with a lazy river swimming pool. All for your very own amusement. Just imagine kicking back beside your own pool with a cold Red Horse in your hand in your favorite lounge chair while being fanned with a banana leaf living the the life of Leisure.
As the old motto goes: Liven, Loven, Laughen !
Your Liven the the Dream man !

P.S. Don’t forget to build 16 foot walls with good quality Razor wire and get some security dogs to patrol your new pad. and make sure you put iron bars on all your windows so nobody breaks in. Maybe hire a security guard to keep track of everyone who signs in and out your compound.
    Now that’s freedom !
Now that would make great content for Video. Ha,ha.
